Nuclear D&D HSE Manager
**Job Overview:** APTIM is seeking a qualified Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Manager with DOD (Department of Defense), DOE (Department of Energy) and/or NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) experience. The candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and administering HSE protection programs affecting occupational health, employee and public safety, incident investigation and loss control, responsible environmental practices and equipment & property protection. **Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:** + Manage HSE programs and safety assessment documents that will support all work activities performed on complex decommissioning & disposal (D&D)/remediation and radiological projects. + Conduct hazard analyses and initiate controls to support operations. + Be a resource to Projects regarding HSE compliance with applicable federal, state, local, client, and APTIM rules and regulations. + Manage industrial hygiene, industrial safety, and environmental compliance activities at work location. + Communicate program Health and Safety performance to project leadership. + Primary HSE site investigator on behalf of Project Manager. + Leads Health and Safety in preparation and implementation of assessments and ensures completion of daily site inspections. + Performs duties in accordance with company health and safety program procedures and the site-specific health and safety plans. + Reports and documents incidents and issues related to site safety. + Coordinates daily site wide tasks with Project Supervisors addressing safety concerns and resolutions. + Supervises site monitoring activities. + Ensures all training for site is accomplished and current. + Assists with client safety meetings. + Preparing and presenting daily safety meetings. + Travel and work outdoors as required. **Basic Qualifications:** + Able to demonstrate the ability to work with client and organizational leadership to set priorities, solidify relationships, while possessing the ability to ensure company and client compliance with APTIM HSE procedures, Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and other job-specified procedures or standards + Knowledge of and proficiency in State, Federal, and industry standards, directives, and regulations. + Proven ability to perform complex professional tasks independently and to analyze and develop innovative solutions to problems. + Able to independently organize own work to meet established objectives, using discretion in performing assigned duties. + Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills + A valid driver's license with a clean driving record. + Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including interpersonal and leadership abilities and moderate to advanced computer and presentation skills. + Minimum of a B.S. in Safety, or a comparable scientific discipline; should include coursework in HSE Management, HSE Regulatory Requirements, Workers' Compensation, etc. + 10+ years of progressive HSE Supervisory and Management experience with hazardous waste and/or demolition projects, including experience in working with U. S. Government clients and their associated HSE requirements + Professional certification in a HSE discipline (CIH, CSP) + Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. + Bring an informed, analytical, and comprehensive approach to problems. + Strong quantitative, analytical skills, and problem-solving skills. **Physical requirements:** + Standing (50-100%); Walking; Lifting 20-50lbs; Carrying 20-50lbs; Pushing; Pulling; Climbing; Balancing; Bending; Stooping; Kneeling; Crouching; Crawling; Reaching; Handling; Feeling; Hearing (listening) and Observing (vision). + Onsite hazards including but not limited to moving industrial equipment, hazardous energies (LOTO), confined spaces, climbing ladders, contaminants of concern, working at heights, working on uneven or unimproved surfaces, and areas of high noise levels. + Able to be medically qualified (HAZWOPER physical), including respiratory clearance, by evaluating the ability to wear a respirator. **ABOUT APTIM** APTIM is committed to accelerating the transition toward a clean and efficient energy economy, building a sustainable future for our communities and natural world, and creating a more inclusive and equitable environment that celebrates the diversity of our communities.
