Nuclear Med Technologist I

The Nuclear Medicine team member is responsible for patient schedules, assisting the radiologists in the performance of complex procedures, coordination of equipment maintenance and quality assessment (QA). The technologist maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate and participate in a variety of technical procedures to include in vivo and in vitro studies; operate radiation detection and measurement instrumentation including stationary imaging devices, scintillation gamma and apparatus for in vitro countingCalibrate and draw up radiopharmaceutical materials for administration to patients; formulate radiopharmaceutical materials from pre-prepared kitsProcess computerized image data to include function curves and reconstructed SPECT imagesPerform Nuclear Cardiology studies including image acquisition, processing and monitoring patient vital signs. Perform EKG prep, tracing and monitors for obvious change during cardiac studiesMay rotate shifts or be in an “on call” status as needed or directed by the organization
Qualifications

Required Education:

Completion of an accredited nuclear medicine technology program

Required Licensure:

RTN or CNMTMRAD - TexasBLS - AHA
