Work in the heart of #humankindess at CHI St. Alexius Health Devils Lake. As our Nuclear Medicine Coordinator, you will be responsible to advise on nuclear medicine protocols, procedures and operations of the nuclear medicine department and hot lab standard operations. You will participate in inspections and be considered the expert for handling of radioactive sources and radioactive doses in the form of radioisotopes that are administered to patients for molecular imaging. You will work on communication of policy with the department manager, radiation safety officer, and medical director of radiology. Your ability to train may be needed as you may be asked to train as the radiation safety officer (RSO) and be responsible for the RSO duties.
The overall goal will be to guide and verify that all patients will be imaged correctly, with quality and safely in coordination with federal and local laws and within guidelines of accrediting bodies such as the JC, State of North Dakota under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and any other inspections for Medical Nuclear Medicine. On a daily basis the Nuclear Med Tech Coordinator will coordinate the schedule for imaging with the providers for stress testing, nursing support and arrange for radioisotope delivery with the designated supplier.
Additionally, you'll update operating procedures for security of transportation of doses and educate the facility staff on an annual basis as required by accrediting bodies. You will complete nuclear medicine imaging of patients, computed tomography and radiology examinations and may participate in other imaging as license allows. Your attention to detail and organization will be integral in assuring that all imaging is completed professionally with kindness and best practice as it applies to critical access hospitals. It's important the NuC Med Tech Coordinator will keep the nuclear medicine area and hot lab safe for patients and staff; educate and train other staff participating in nuclear medicine examinations; and will contribute to evaluating other nuclear medicine staff as needed. Your communication will be essential to communicate and update the Medical Director, Department Management and RSO on Nuclear Medicine operations.
