Also may perform manufacturing, quality control, and quality assurance of PET radiopharmaceuticals. Position will manage a team of radiopharmacists and staff related to the radiopharmacy. Position will take on responsibilities in quality oversite and product release requiring the individual to have necessary experience or willingness to be trained in quality assurance according to 21 CFR 212 and other regulatory requirements. Must be motivated, team oriented and committed to expanding their knowledge and experience in a clinically oriented academic and commercial program. Incumbent will experience moderate exposure to hazardous materials or physical risk, which requires adhering to radiation and other safety practices. Full time position involving a variable schedule based on production demands. Typical shift will be from 6:00 am – 2:30 pm but may need to be adjusted based on radiopharmaceutical production and dispensing needs. There will also be some on-call requirement as necessary. The typical work week is Monday through Friday. In rare instances a weekend shift may be required. This may include description of your prior experiences related to research, prevention, clinical care, community engagement/outreach, training, administration, or other areas relevant to Huntsman Cancer Institute’s mission and this position._ **Responsibilities** As a PET Radiopharmacist your duties may be highly varied from time to time and may include but not be limited to: + Responsible and accountable under State Pharmacy Law, for all actions of personnel working in the permitted pharmacy area + Ensures compliance with all regulatory commitments including the cGMP, Radiation Safety, Pharmacy laws and facility standard operating procedures ( SOP ) and policies and other applicable Federal, State and Local authorities + As needed, operates cyclotron and associated equipment in compliance with protocols and good ALARA radiation safety practices. + As needed, operates automated radiochemistry synthesis equipment in compliance with protocols and cGMP and FDA regulations. + Preparation, compounding, and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals. + Assist in maintaining inventory and ordering supplies. + Ensure performance of good aseptic technique including sterile product preparation under GMP and USP standards. + Ensure performance of QC procedures using analytical equipment (Radio- TLC , GC and HPLC ) and chemical tests per standard operating procedures. + Troubleshoots cyclotron laboratory equipment using mechanical, electronic and basic science skills. Develops new processes and writes protocols for equipment refinement. + Assures that packaging and shipping of radioactive material are in compliance with all state and federal regulations. + Maintains all applicable documents and records. + Prepares and maintains records of research radiopharmaceuticals being evaluated at the University Medical Center. + Prepares shipment of radioactive materials according to procedure and licensing authorities requirements. + Assists in the development of PET radiopharmaceuticals for research. + Assists management in developing, improving and maintaining protocols, applications and licenses as required for routine PET radiopharmaceutical production. + Ensures a clean, orderly and safe working environment. + Participates in personnel training and staff development. + Provide the highest quality customer service, including telephone and customer visits. + Other tasks as assigned by management. **Minimum Qualifications** * Pharm.D or B.S. in Pharmacy. * Must be licensed as a Nuclear Pharmacist in the State of Utah before start date. * Must have effective communication skills, customer service skills, and work well with others. * Must have “Authorized Nuclear Pharmacist” certification. * Experience in preparation and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals. * Experience in responding to federal, state, and industry audits and inspections. * Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description and general responsibilities. * Detail oriented, self-directed, able to work autonomously and able to multitask effectively. * Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description and general responsibilities. * Physical demands: Clear speech, good hearing and at least 20/20 corrected vision (which can include the use of glasses, contact lenses, etc.). Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. **Preferences** * Expertise in PET Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance including CFR 21 Part 212 and USP <797>, <823>, and <825> * Experience in production of PET radionuclides using a GE cyclotron including 18F, 11C, and 15O * Experienced in personnel management * Experienced in working with analytical equipment such as HPLC , GC, and IC. * Working knowledge of MS Windows applications such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc… * Working knowledge of BioDose and BioTrax software **Type** Benefited Staff **Special Instructions Summary** **Additional Information** The University is a participating employer with Utah Retirement Systems (“URS”).
