MELE Associates is looking for a Nuclear Surety Policy and Exercise Analyst candidate to support the Nuclear Surety and Exercises Programs (NSEP) Directorate, Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters (DASD(NM)) in Falls Church, VA for nuclear surety, nuclear security, nuclear exercises, and security threat policy and guidance. Specifically, you will use your expertise to:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate with Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Military Services, DoD Agencies, and interagency stakeholders to identify and develop programs, capabilities, and training required to implement national and DoD policy for nuclear surety and accident/incident response. Contribute to the oversight and execution of the Nuclear Accident/Incident Exercises (NUWAIX), DoD Force-on-Force Exercise Programs, and related working groups as required. Ensure exercise after action report (AAR) findings and recommendations are fed back into the policy development process. Contribute to annual reports to Congress and the President; conduct analysis and prepare relevant staff products and briefings; and routinely draft Principal-level correspondence, staff packages, issue papers, preparatory reading material, presentations, and trip books. Prepare and disseminate agenda, meeting materials and meeting summaries. Reserve meeting space, ensure attendee access, and other administrative aspects. Be available to travel to the Pentagon building in Arlington, VA for occasional meetings as well as occasional domestic and international travel to other locations. Other job-related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance. Bachelor’s degree and ten years’ experience related to U.S. nuclear weapon surety, accident/incident response policy, guidance, exercises and/or agreements. A relevant master’s degree or higher may be considered equivalent to some portion of the required experience. Expert knowledge in national policy for nuclear surety and derivative guidance within the DoD.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree in a related discipline Experience staffing or advising DoD senior leaders on matters of national security. Expert knowledge in nuclear accidents and incidents exercises and coordinating efforts across agencies to address the findings and recommendations of past exercise After-Action Reports. Expert knowledge in nuclear surety concepts and associated policy, particularly as they apply to NATO and USEUCOM. Experience drafting, negotiating, interpreting, or implementing nuclear accident/incident agreements with Allies and corresponding Joint Operations Plans. Explosive Ordnance Disposal and/or related special operations experience.LOCATION: This is an On-Site position in Falls Church, VA.
