DOCS Health is a leading healthcare company seeking a skilled and experienced Nurse Case Manager to join our team. This is a remote independent contractor position requiring the review and provision of medical opinions for pre-employment and post-employment exams within Homeland Security Programs. As a Nurse Case Manager, you will be responsible for reviewing medical exam results and medical treatment records to help determine if applicants and employees are in compliance with Medical Standards. This role is required to collaborate with our Reviewing Physicians(s) opinions and recommendations based on your clinical expertise.
Responsibilities:
· Review completed examination results and any medical documentation/treatment records (including VA disability awards) to determine if an applicant is medically suitable for the position and draft a type-written medical opinion supporting the agency’s medical standards as to whether the individual meets the medical requirements of the position.
· Demonstrate an ability to clearly articulate the type of additional medical documentation needed to further evaluate the risk associated with a medical condition and its impact on the safe and effective performance of the job.
· Provide an opinion in collaboration with Reviewing Physician as to the selectee’s medical qualification for the position which shall address a description of current health status, stability of condition, and the rationale for the recommendation.
· Review final Independent Medical Exam (IME) Reports provided by specialists, including all exam and lab results and perform a quality assurance review to determine whether the IME specialist properly answered the Agency’s questions and whether the recommendations and opinions are sufficiently supported.
Requirements Nurse Case Manager shall have an active RN license in U.S. state of employment.At least 3-5 years of clinical experience in direct patient care, preferably in a clinical, occupational health or case management setting.Case management experience, including reviewing medical records, determining patient eligibility for work, and making recommendations based on health assessments and federal agency medical standards.Strong understanding of medical terminology, common diseases, conditions.Ability to interpret medical exam results and understand the implications of medical conditions on a person’s ability to meet physical demands of a job.Knowledge of maintaining patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA laws when handling medical data.Ability to make sound, evidence-based decisions and provide well-reasoned recommendations on a patient’s fitness for employment.Must have meticulous attention to detail in reviewing medical records, exam results, and documenting findings.Ability to manage multiple cases and prioritize tasks efficiently to meet deadlines.Knowledge of VA disability awards preferred.Experience with case management of Independent Medical Examination (IME) and Fitness for Duty Exams (FFD) is preferred, including the ability to coordinate and review medical evaluations for employment suitability.Must be technologically proficient, including experience with Microsoft Office.
