Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Nurse Clinician – Certified Diabetes Educator for the department of Medicine at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

This position is responsible for the delivery of diabetes self-management training to pediatric patients and their families referred to the Division of Endocrinology for individual and/or group education on an outpatient basis. They must be able to function effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team providing care to patients with diabetes and their families in an outpatient diabetes program. 

Among the key duties of this position are the following: Function in an interdisciplinary team providing care to patients and their families with diabetes in an outpatient diabetes program.  Provide diabetes self-management training to individuals and families using culturally sensitive and family centered approaches in an ambulatory setting.  Act as a diabetes resource in the outpatient and to members of the community including primary care physicians and school nurses.  Promote optimal diabetes self-management through individual and group educational sessions using American Association of Diabetes Education (AADE) standards.  Able to train patients and their families/caregivers on all insulin pumps.  Able to utilize current software technology for optimal diabetes management.  Responsible for the delivery of diabetes self-management training to patients and their families with diabetes referred to the Division of Endocrinology.  Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement This position requires a fully on-site work arrangement.
