Nurse Educator - Postpartum Prenatal Education

The Nurse Specialist will act as a clinician to assess, coordinate and provide patient care related to specialty; as an educator to conduct opportunities for staff development and patient education, as a consultant to serve as a resource to staff, patients and other health care providers and as a researcher to participate in studies, review literature and disseminate information to others.

Required qualifications:

Candidates must meet the criteria to sit for the NCLEX examination and become licensed in the state of Texas. Coursework/Training: On-going continuing education in area related to specialty. Coursework/Training: Nurse Specialist, Enterostomal Nursing: Graduation from an accredited Wound, Ostomy, Continence Education Program. Coursework/Training: Nurse Specialist – PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter): Qualified for placement of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter as evidenced by: Successful completion of theoretical course with Didactic (with supervised practicum). Coursework/Training: Nurse Specialist – PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter): Complete a class to qualify for nurse radiographic interpretation of PICC Lines. Bachelor's Degree in CCH Asthma/Diabetes Nurse Educator: Nursing. Texas Registered Nurse License upon hire National Provider BLS - American Heart Association upon hire 3 years of Clinical experience. 1 year in the Lifestyle Center: Experience in ICU, CCU, or ER nursing. 2 years of rehab Services MDA Coordinator: Rehabilitation experience in skilled nursing, and/or Skilled Nursing settings. 2 years of Nurse Specialist – Palliative Care Coordinator: Hospice or homecare experience. Nurse Specialist – PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter): Qualified for placement of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter as evidenced by: Successful insertion of PICC Line and/or Midline catheter on practice arm. Observe 5 successful insertions by a qualified clinician placing PICC Lines or Midline Catheters. Be observed placing 5 successful insertions by a qualified preceptor placing PICC Lines and/or Midline catheters. 5 years of CCH Asthma/Diabetes Nurse Educator: Clinical experience in a pediatric area. 2 years of PICU Nurse Specialist: PICU experience. 2 years of Nurse Specialist – Antepartum: Obstetrical experience.

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. Master's Degree in  PICU Nurse Specialist: Nursing. Regional Nurse Specialist - Cardiology: Charge Nurse/leadership experience. Nurse Specialist – Palliative Care Coordinator: Charge Nurse/leadership experience.
