Job Summary
The Nurse Graduate Opportunity is a full-time position working under the supervision of the Unit Director. The Nurse Graduate will begin an orientation program (didactic and clinical) in a structured setting with a defined educational program for the orientation of new graduates under the continuous, on-site supervision of a registered professional nurse. The Nurse Graduate must pass the NCLEX® examination within 3 months of starting orientation.
Schedule - Orientation schedule will be determined by the Unit Director.

St. Joseph Healthcare is proud to offer a program to help newly licensed nurses successfully transition into clinical practice. We care about you and are committed to empowering you to successfully navigate your professional nursing journey through mentorship and hands-on training to help you gain competence and increase confidence.
As a newly licensed nurse at St. Joseph Healthcare, you will receive monitoring from an experienced nurse, building relationships with peers and participate in engaging learning experiences in a supportive environment.
The interactive sessions and evidence-based curriculum will increase your ability to:
+ Use effective decision-making skills
+ Provide clinical nursing leadership when administering care
+ Incorporate research-based evidence into practice
+ Strengthen professional commitment to nursing
+ Formulate an individualized professional development plan
There is no separate application for St. Joseph Healthcare Nurse Residency Program. Every newly licensed RN with less than one-year experience will be enrolled based on hire date. We look forward to providing you the support and encouragement you need as you transition into the nurse you have always wanted to be.
Program will run for 12 months,
Sessions are held once a week on Wednesdays for the first month, then quarterly for the year- this time may be scheduled in addition to your regular contracted hours*
Start date to be determined based on cohort graduation and start dates.
Education Requirements
· Must be eligible for State of Maine RN Licensure
+ Successful completion of the NCLEX® within three months
· BLS required within 30 days of hire

+ Demonstrated professional nursing behaviors including collaborative approaches to care
+ Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
+ Effective interpersonal skills
+ Possess excellent written and oral communication skills
+ Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures
+ Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors
