We are looking for a motivated and energetic person to serve as the teacher for our Health Careers program where students learn to become Certified Nurse Aides (CNA). Check out the duties and qualifications below: DUTIES: 1. Provide instruction for high school students in a career and technical education (CTE) Health Careers program. 2. Provide high school students with a hands-on, practical experience in the nursing laboratory. 3. Implement curriculum according to New York State secondary school standards and New York State Health department. 4. Participate in faculty and professional development meetings. 5. Work in a team environment that fosters the philosophy of collaborative planning and an interdisciplinary approach to learning. 6. Work collaboratively with businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners. 7. Effectively communicate with school staff, parents, districts, community agencies and the NYS DOH. QUALIFICATIONS: 1. NYS Registered Nurse (RN) certification required. 2. Minimum of 2 year's RN experience, of which 1 year must be in a nursing home caring for the elderly and/or chronically ill . 3. Certification in or willingness to pursue career and technical teaching certification for Nurse’s Assisting, grades 7-12 is required. 4. Commitment to supporting students’ social emotional and academic development. 5. Enthusiasm towards working with students and their families to help the students succeed. 6. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively communicate with adults and students. 7. Physically able to perform essential functions of the position (with or without reasonable accommodation).
