**Job Summary:** The Nurse Intern is responsible for assisting in direct patient care of all age groups, specific to the unit assigned; assisting with patient transfers, repositioning, transporting of patients, supplies, or specimens; and any other duties necessary to ensure optimal patient care under the direction and supervision of the professional nurse. In addition to the duties assigned to a Patient Care Technician, the Nurse Intern can complete the additional tasks of wet-to-dry and sterile dressing changes, insertion and removal of Foley Catheters, administration of routine screening tests/immunizations, removal of intravenous catheter, administration of routine oral, intramuscular, rectal, topical, or subcutaneous medications, and documentation of these procedures and medication administration. The Nurse Intern reports to nursing leadership staff.
**Qualifications** :
**Education:** High school diploma or equivalent or currently attending an accredited school of nursing (LPN, ADN or BSN) with completion of at least the first two semesters of nursing curriculum or a recent graduate from an accredited school of nursing and successfully completed coursework in pharmacology, medication administration, and nursing fundamentals.
**Experience:** Completion of first two semesters of nursing curriculum or a recent graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
**Licenses/Certifications:** Must maintain current BLS certification
