Nurse Manager
Responsibilities Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Nurse Manager. The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and Performance & Improvement efforts, while providing supervision of House Supervisors, RN’s and MHTs. This position will monitor staffing needs on assigned shifts. This position is responsible for assisting the DON/ADON in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN//MHT staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed. Essential Job Responsibilities: Ensure that all staff members deliver care in accordance with the Standards of Care and Practice. Implement the unit policies and procedures and act as a resource to the staff. Responsible for unit compliance with JCAHO, OSHA, state and regulatory standards and patient rights standards. Evaluate program effectiveness and formulates plans for improvement. Develop staffing schedules for Full Time Staff in accordance with patient needs. Ensure Infection Control, Safety and Risk Management policies are consistently implemented on the unit. Coordinate, maintain and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment planning offered by Nursing Services. Process incident reports, conduct investigations and corrective plans when needed. Participate in performance improvement activities and is responsible for the effectiveness of the unit quality improvement program. Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required or equivalent combination of education and experience in nursing management; Bachelor’s Degree preferred. A minimum of (5) years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a psychiatric of behavioral healthcare setting. Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures and 24 hour shift staffing experience. Currently licensed to practice by the Michigan State Board of Nursing. RN Only. Thorough knowledge of JCAHO, HCFA, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR certification within 30 days of employment and successful completion of training in Management of Assaultive Behavior (CPI) Crisis Prevention Intervention and Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment.
