Position Summary
Provides clinical support to Nurse Residents/Registered Nurses during orientation and transition from novice to experienced RN. Facilitates and supports as they develop critical thinking skills, and provides educational experiences and mentoring that promote competent nursing practice and quality patient care.
Provides clinical support to PCAs, PCTs, Safety Sitters, and Unit Coordinators.
Assist the Nursing Director in the management of the daily operations of the department.
Primary Position Responsibilities
1. Facilitate and coordinate clinical teaching to reflect knowledge of the content area
2. Establish an environment that promotes learning and works well with all HMC staff regarding teaching situations
3. Patient Advocate
4. Maintain patient safety
5. Oversight and responsibility for staffing and operations
6. Human Resources Resource Management
7. Regulatory Compliance/TJC/EMTALA
8. Outcomes/Quality
9. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Preferred:
Master’s degree in Nursing or related field
Minimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type, and Variation):
Required:
3 years of acute care experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing or Critical Care
Preferred:
2-3 years of leadership experience
License, Registry or Certification:
Required:
Current NJ RN licensure and American Heart Association CPR certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support
Preferred:
Certification in specialty
Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:
Required:
Must pass annual clinical competency-based program and mandated in-service education. Unit-specific skills may include but are not limited to IV therapy, basic arrhythmia interpretation, vent training, critical care, conscious sedation, Bi-Pap/CPAP, and EndTidal CO2. Skills will be
determined by a challenge exam and/or skill performance or by completion of a Staff
