Nurse Manager and Educator Binghamton, NY (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Binghamton+NY+USA+13905) Apply Job Type Full-time Description Nurse Manager and Educator Full-time, 40 hours/week Salary Range: $40 - $50/hour Requirements The Nurse Manager and Educator is responsible for the evaluation, supervision, and/or provision of nursing department employees as well as implementing a health and medical training program for agency employees. This position’s specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the subsequent items, and are characterized in the following five standards of performance, defined as below: • Daily supervision of nursing department employees • Manage the schedule, program assignments for RNs and LPNs • Ensure all programs are compliant with OPWDD nursing and medical regulations. • Assist the Director of Nursing with the review and implementation of policies and procedures. • Conduct interviews with potential nursing department candidates. • Conduct Medication Administration Certification training. • Conduct other trainings and certifications which may include but are not limited to: Diabetes Training, Colostomy Care, Feeding Tube Certification, and Insulin Certification, completing activities of daily living and personal care and other trainings that are program/individual specific. • Assist the nursing team with program coverage as needed • Assist with training and onboarding new nurses. • Investigate incidents/accidents related to medication errors and/or health concerns as requested • Serve as designated on-call staff, on a rotational basis, for all health or medically related concerns occurring after normal shift hours • Conform to program changes and regulations and keep abreast of developments in the field • Perform required duties in a productive and safe manner • Act as role model to individuals receiving services and staff • Any additional duties as assigned SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: + Possess good interpersonal, written, oral, and communication abilities and effective time management/organizational skills + Able to work scheduled hours that may include overtime, weekend and/or holiday timeframes and maintain an acceptable work attendance as defined in the agency’s personnel policy manual and handbook + Be computer literate with knowledge in agency operating systems and applicable software required for department needs + Demonstrate sound judgment in normal work and emergency situations + Must physically be able to perform required certifications and lift fifty (50) pounds QUALIFICATIONS: Must be licensed and currently registered as a Registered Nurse by the New York State Department of Education plus 2 years supervisory experience. Experience working with intellectually/developmentally disabled is preferred. -Or- A combination of education and experience that in the opinion of the reviewing agency, exceeds the above standards of the program What do we offer in return?
