Responsibilities
We are looking for a Nurse Manager for our Medical Acute Unit, which is a 37 bed combination department. The unit is divided into two sides, with one side focused on patients with medical-surgical diagnoses. The other side of this department is dedicated to our behavioral health patient population. Department staffing consists of 1:4 RN ratio for telemetry patients and 1:5 RN ratio for Medical Surgical patients. We have a strong multidisciplinary team involved in the care and well-being of our patients and consists of Care Coordination, Social Services, Rehab Therapy and psychiatric health care providers.
This is a great leadership opportunity to support a very fast paced Medical Surgical Unit with a Behavioral Health focus. This department needs a strong leader who will support a team that is very collaborative, family focused, and dedicated to providing excellent care to this patient population.
Position Summary:
Manages the resources and daily activities of the Medical Acute department while ensuring environmental factors support high standards of patient care. Assists in the training and development of new and existing staff members. Creates and maintains an environment that is conducive to learning transfer. Coordinates the activities of the unit for each shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff. Provides patient care as needed.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and/or additional job related experience in lieu of the degree.Minimum of three (3) years experience in related field, and one (1) year of leadership experience in Med/Surg NursingLicensure:
CA RN licensure and AHA BLS
