Nurse Manager Pediatric ICU

Join our team as a Nurse Manager in the Pediatric ICU at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital! Located on the west bank of the Mississippi River in Minneapolis, we deliver a broad range of pediatric programs from surgery, imaging and neonatal and pediatric intensive care to cardiac and oncology (cancer care) services and blood and marrow and organ transplantation. We are proud to be the only academic children’s hospital in Minnesota, providing medical services in more than 50 specialty areas. The Pediatric ICU has 12 beds and works closely with Pediatric CVICU on same floor. Our pediatric patients range from newborns to young adults. The unit has medical and surgical patients that include transplant (solid organ, blood and marrow, auto-islet, kidney, liver), neurology, neurosurgery, pulmonary, ENT, hematology/oncology, orthopedic and trauma. Our care team includes RNs and Nursing Station Technicians, with a nurse to patient ratio of 1:1 or 1:2. This Nurse Manager role will plan, lead, coordinate, and evaluate patient care activities of the Pediatric ICU. In addition, this role will lead nursing practice and patient care operations in collaboration with and accountable to the Nursing Director, this includes: nursing practice, quality and safety, regulatory compliance, finance and other operational accountabilities. **Job Expectations:** + Leads day-to-day operations of assigned area(s) to ensure support of the mission, vision, values and goals of the organization. + Plans, handles, coordinates and evaluates patient care activities including staffing, resource management, and financial management. + Manages equipment inventory and supply management within operational budget. + Accountable for capacity management to promote patient flow. + Develops, implements, monitors and evaluates the quality improvement initiatives. In addition, the Nurse Manager: + Is responsible for human resources management to achieve quality service and positive employee relations. + Ensures compliance with organizational policies and procedures. + Advocates for patient, family and staff needs. + Drives improvement activities that promote patient centered care and positive customer experience. + In partnership the Nursing Practice and Education team assure that evidence based/standard process clinical care is being delivered. + Ensures staff compliance in areas of job requirements, education and clinical competency. + Works with Nurse Director to establish goals and objectives. + Promotes a culture of high employee engagement, professional development, nursing education and research. + Partners with interprofessional team members across the continuum of care to achieve organizational outcomes. **Required** **Education** Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. If Bachelor’s degree is not in nursing must have a Master’s degree is nursing. **Experience** Three years of nursing experience, at least two of which are in a formal or informal (charge, lead, preceptor) leadership role. **License/Certification/Registration** Licensed Registered Nurse. Ability to obtain Minnesota nursing license at time of hire.
