Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. The Emergency Department at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital offers emergency services to people of all ages for any medical, surgical, or behavioral health need that may arise. Our unit is comprised of 35 beds, including a FastTrack area, Crisis Intervention for Acute Behavioral Health Emergencies, and specialized Critical Care resuscitation rooms. Our multi-disciplinary team includes Registered Nurses, Physicians, Physician Assistants, Patient Care Technicians and ancillary support staff, all of whom work together in a supportive environment to ensure we have a safe and skillful emergency department for our staff members and patients. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the comprehensive administration of patient care services for the ED. The manager shapes and interprets the philosophy and definition of nursing as it relates to short and long-term planning, program and staff development, resource and budget management, staffing, performance improvement and healthcare system utilization Functioning within the framework for professional nursing practice, the Nurse Manager supports and assists the Director. This position has 24 hour accountability for managing resources (human, material and financial), to ensure quality, cost-effective delivery of patient services for in a defined area across the continuum. This is accomplished by direct action, delegation, coaching and support of unit-based shared governance councils. Reports to the Director of Nursing for Emergency Services. Graduate of a school of nursing. BSN, MSN or Master’s degree in a related field preferred. Three (3) years of recent acute care experience and two (2) years of progressive management or leadership experience. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATION Current unrestricted License in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, Pediatric Life Supports (PALS) certification, TNCC preferred. We take great care of careers.
