Atlantic Health is Seeking a Per-Diem Nurse Practitioner for a Great Opportunity in New Jersey

 

Atlantic Health System, one of New Jersey's largest non-profit healthcare systems is seeking a per diem Nurse Practitioner to be part of the Atlantic Corporate Health team. The NP will be responsible for providing comprehensive clinical care to patients at various sites across New Jersey. The ideal candidate must be independent, adaptable, and comfortable traveling to different locations as needed. This position also offers opportunities to participate in special projects, including creating and presenting webinars. Additionally, there is an option for remote work when engaging in these special initiatives. Our team is highly supportive, and this is an excellent opportunity for an experience NP looking for work-life balance. This role is entirely outpatient-based and provides flexibility with scheduling. The location will vary across Western, Eastern, and Central New Jersey depending on need. The schedule for this role is per diem, working 8am – 4pm with no nights, weekends, holidays, or call required.

 

Qualifications

 

Graduated from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.  Current State of NJ license as an Adult or Family Advanced Practice Nurse with prescriptive privileges and as a registered professional nurse. (No controlled substances will be prescribed) Valid NJ Driver’s License ACLS and BLS certification required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in primary care, urgent care, emergency care, or critical care.  Strong work ethic and a team player who can work independently. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Prior experience working with EMRs preferred. Prior experience working with federal and state regulatory authorities such as OSHA, PEOSH, etc. preferred. ABOHN Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN or COHN-S)- preferred. Certification in Case Management by ABOHN or CCMC-preferred DOT Drug Screen Collector Certification- preferred Breath Alcohol Technician Certification- preferred NIOSH-Approved (#043) Spirometry Training Certification Course- preferred Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC)- certification- preferred First Aid Certification-preferred APN will have only those approved medications on-site as outlined in the Corporate Health Employer-Based standing orders.

Responsibilities: 

 

Nature and Scope:

Provides professional advanced practice nursing care.

Assesses, diagnoses, treats & prescribes both employees and contingent workers for various ambulatory care complaints and episodic illnesses. Prescribe appropriate medications and devices within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, the collaborative agreement, and prescribing protocols.  All policies, procedures, and treatment will follow only evidence-based best practices and clinical guidelines. Responds to on-site emergencies. Implements emergency first aid care and crisis management for job-related injuries and non-work-related illnesses. Provides research on communicable diseases and referrals to expert resources, including local and state health departments, infectious disease specialists, and others as needed.  Reports infectious diseases to appropriate local and state agencies as required by law. Works with clients to take steps to contain infectious diseases. Provides education & monitoring for chronic illnesses as required by the patient and/or at the request of the employee’s primary care provider (PCP) Review all “at work” injuries/illnesses with the employee, the client contact, and, where applicable, the client disability management team to address any potential future injuries. Provides appropriate physician referrals for personal illnesses and injuries with consideration given to the employee’s home address and culture. Appropriately uses resources available through Atlantic Health System to provide the best care to the client’s employees while ensuring that the company complies with all state and federal medical regulations. Consult with the Clinical Nurse Manager, Occupational Health Medical Director, and /or collaborating physician as needed. May coordinate the on-site delivery of authorized medications within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, the collaborative agreement, as per N.J.A.C. 13:37-8.1, and prescribing protocols according to the accepted clinical guidelines.

 

Case Management

Supports medically evaluating and facilitating an employee’s return to work after medical leave, STD, and Worker’s Compensation cases according to federal, state, and company guidelines.  Supports the client with their assessment of the workplace for medically appropriate accommodations for employees with documented disabilities as required.

 

Regulatory Compliance

Coordinates with HR, EH&S, and vendors on all medical examinations and/or testing specific to client requests for employees and employee candidates. Administers appropriate vaccinations according to State regulations and CDC guidelines through Atlantic Corporate Health. 

 

Manages Health & Wellness Education Programs

Determines the population's educational needs based on problems arising from patient visits, management/employee requests, and population-specific needs. Teaches skills through education that encourage employees to take responsibility for their health and families. This is done with an awareness and understanding of literacy and culture to enhance compliance. Researches, develops and conducts in-person or web-based educational programs in response to determined needs. Assists the company liaison with coordinating Health and wellness programs, seminars, screenings, and events as requested. Communicates specific health information to employees through handouts, bulletin boards, websites, and or newsletters as the client permits.

 

Administrative Responsibilities:

While following best practices supports the company client and/or designated physicians in developing, implementing and/or maintaining the following: Policies and procedures that follow site-applicable local, state, and federal regulatory healthcare requirements, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations, Department of Transportation regulations, PEOSH, OLAW, and other regulatory agencies. Maintains current working knowledge of OSHA standards and requirements. Maintains an accurate, professional, and confidential medical record system following HIPAA and other regulations. Establishes, manages, and oversees the administration of occupational injury program, including working with external healthcare providers, insurance carriers and/or third-party administrators to reduce employee lost time and contain cost.  Supports client in ensuring compliance with State Nurse Practice Act, FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, EPA, and HIPPA as required. Promotes continuous effort in quality improvement, enhancing the services provided to the employees. Submits monthly reports to the clinical nurse manager, department administrative assistant, company contact, and account manager on time.  Assists in the budget preparation and monitoring for the clinic as requested. Maintains an accurate, professional, and confidential medical record system per HIPAA and other regulations. Supports, may establish, manage, and oversee the administration of the occupational injury program, including working with external healthcare providers, insurance carriers, and/or third-party administrators to reduce employee lost time and contain cost.  Supports client in ensuring compliance with State Nurse Practice Act, FMLA, ADA, STD, LTD, EPA, and HIPPA as required. Attend meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops, both within and outside the specialty of occupational health  Promote continuous effort in quality improvement, enhancing the services provided to the employees. Assists in the budget preparation and monitoring for the clinic as requested. Manages the AED program if applicable.

 

General Responsibilities:

The assigned Employer-Based Advanced Practice Nurse is accountable to Atlantic Corporate Health department management for planning and installing the program for the client company.  Supports the client liaison in developing an annual budget for health and wellness programs and medical and office supplies, as requested. Responsible for contributing to the overall goals and objectives of the Atlantic Corporate Health Department. Meets the client company's needs within the parameters of the medical directives, program guidelines, and contracted hours. Works closely with the Account Manager to help provide/promote the appropriate client services. Purchases, audits, and maintains medical equipment and supplies cost-efficiently as requested. Manages the day-to-day functions of the medical office through developing and evaluating protocols and guidelines. Attends meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops, both within and outside the specialty of occupational health.  Submits monthly reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager, department administrative assistant, company contact, and account manager on time. Ensures that their medical knowledge of any AHS new policies, procedures, and regulations remains up to date by daily checking the AHS website, attending conferences and staff meetings, and reading professional journals/publications. Keeps all certifications current. Submits time sheets weekly and enters own time keeping into the AHS payroll system (API) accurately and on time. Contributes to employer’s health care management cost containment strategies.

 

Per Diem Staff: 

Will have availability throughout the year for: Providing relief coverage for assigned nurses at Employer-Based site. Corporate Flu Clinics (September- November) Health Fairs/ Screenings/Testing Lectures/Webinars Attends all Team Meetings
