Overview Ensures coordination and continuity of patient care for heart/lung/heart-lung transplant patients in order to maintain organized and efficient care and provide support to staff and other health care professionals. Responsible for identifying the patient's alterations in health; assessing the patient's response to treatment protocols; communicating appropriate data to physician staff; implementing nursing interventions based upon established treatment protocols; and anticipating potential outcomes for patients at risk for complications. Must demonstrate ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs and organ(s) transplanted and provide care according to protocols and within practice of nursing. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: A minimum of a Master's degree in advanced nursing practice is required. Minimum of four years experience in nursing with at least two (2) years medical/surgical experience with cardiothoracic patient population; critical care or transplantation experience preferred; eligible for DEA registration. Must be knowledgeable in transplant immunology, technical aspects of surgery, interpretation of diagnostic and laboratory data, and clinical management of patients. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current and clear license as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida. Current BLS certification.
