We offer competitive salaries and benefits, as well as a stimulating work environment that inspires excellence. *Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner Role Scope * Hartford HealthCare's Hartford Hospital and Bone and Joint Institute are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant to join a very enthusiastic team in The PREPARE Center. This is an outpatient clinic specializing in performing preoperative optimization and patient education in preparation for orthopedic and spine surgery. Advanced Practitioners will work in collaboration with the surgeons and with the supervision of the physician Director of PREPARE center. · Review of patient’s medical history · Perform and document H&Ps in the EMR · Interpretation of lab values and EKGs, including determining treatment for abnormalities noted · Determine need for additional medical testing, ordering and interpreting testing · Referring patients to specialists as appropriate. · Perform and document anesthesia risk assessment · Provide medication instructions in preparation for surgery · Complete risk assessment in preparation for surgery and identify any potential areas for optimization · Good communication skills are required to work with surgeons as well as primary care and specialty offices · Perform teaching to patient/family regarding anesthesia and general information about surgery *Shift: *Full-time Nurse Practitioner (APRN) / PA will be required to work 40hrs/week (schedule would be four 10-hour days - 7 am to 5:30 pm) *Advanced Practitioners Enjoy* At Hartford HealthCare newly graduated and experienced providers are provided with the support and mentorship they need to succeed through on the job, classroom, and procedural training.
