Nurse Practitioner for Consultation-Liaison, GBMC – A Sheppard Pratt Partner – Towson, MD

This position is being recruited and hired by Sheppard Pratt Solutions on behalf of Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC). What you can expect.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (Psych NP) will be an integral part of our multidisciplinary inpatient Consultation-Liaison Team, providing psychiatric consultations to hospitalized patients. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with a team of physicians, social workers, and nursing staff to ensure comprehensive care for patients experiencing mental health crises or complex psychiatric conditions in the context of their inpatient medical stay.

Key Responsibilities: 

Conduct psychiatric evaluations for inpatients, including mental status exams, risk assessments, and diagnostic interviews. Provide psychiatric consultation services to medical and surgical teams to support treatment planning for patients with co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions. Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans for patients, including medication management, psychotherapy, and referral to outpatient services as needed. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care for patients with complex needs. Provide education and support to patients and their families about psychiatric conditions, treatment options, and community resources. Participate in rounds and communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). Assist with discharge planning, including follow-up care and recommendations for outpatient mental health services. Adhere to all hospital policies, protocols, and regulatory requirements.

The pay range for this position is $150,000 minimum to $165,000 maximum. Pay for this position is determined on a number of factors, including but not limited to, board certifications and years and level of related experience.

What we need from you.

Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program. 

Current, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Maryland.

Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

At least 2 years of experience as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, preferably in an inpatient or consultation-liaison setting.

Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, treatments, and therapeutic interventions.

Experience with interdisciplinary team collaboration in an acute care environment.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload in a fast-paced environment.

Proficient with electronic health records (EHR), preferably Epic and other clinical software systems.

Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care with a strong focus on quality outcomes.
