Job Summary:

The Go Team PA/NP is prepared to deliver primary health care, including but not limited to: recognition and management of common illnesses and injuries in the Hospitalist setting, some of which may be determined by protocol; provision of care across the health care continuum with emphasis on the early detection and treatment of disease, as well as prevention.

APP must be flexible and have the ability to travel to various RWJBarnabas locations on a regular basis based on staffing needs.APP must be able to work proficiently in Hospitalist Medicine.

Essential Clinical Functions of Job

Work clinical shiftsMembership to the medical staff and/or allied health staffMaintains appropriate certifications, licenses, and hospital privilegesObtains and records patient history and performs physical examinationsResponsible for completing a medical screening examPerform diagnostic and therapeutic studiesOrders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriateEstablishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates a treatment plan, which may include ordering medications, additional therapeutic modalities, etc.Coordinates patient care with other members of the health care team. Initiates consultation request to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management.Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health; referring patients to appropriate specialists/resourcesAdequately manages patient flow in the HM DepartmentPerforming other procedures as allowed by state law and under the direction of your supervising or collaborating physicianActive participation in department staff meetings and risk management educationThorough and timely chart completionCompletes required courses, i.e. HIPAA, EMTALA and other CME /CEU requirementsMust be able work extended hours including weekdays, overnights, weekends, and holidays

Medical knowledge, broad based understanding of clinical hospital medicineStrong communication skills, written and verbalMaintains good working relationships with HM team and hospital medical staffExcellent organizational and time management skillsWorks within legal, regulatory and ethical practice standardsFlexibility with scheduling and willing to help out with urgent scheduling needs

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Must have a minimum of 5 years relevant HM experienceCertification in applicable professional boards (NCCPA, ANCC, etc)Licenses to practice in the applicable State

Encourage active membership in a professional and state organizations
