Nurse Practitioner-OBED-PRN-Varied Shifts

The Nurse Practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice, including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.


Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:

 

Education: 

Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university, Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited college or university, Board Certification completion as Nurse Practitioner in appropriate specialty area, State license in good standing in the State of Alabama through the Alabama Board of Nursing, Basic Cardiac Life Support / Advanced Cardiac Life Support certifications. Stroke Certification as assigned by immediate supervisor, Basic Fetal Monitoring Course through Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 6 months of hire date, Advanced Fetal Monitoring Course through Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) within 1 year of hire date

 

Experience:  Minimum 1 year experience as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner in a direct clinical setting. Consideration will be made for those who do not meet the 1 year minimum experience criteria if applicant has previous women’s health, obstetrical, or emergency room experience.

 

Additional Skills/Abilities:  Must be able to multi-task, prioritize patient care and perform job duties with minimal supervision.
