Responsibilities
There are three positions posted for Endocrinology – two for the outpatient Scottsdale campus and one for the inpatient setting on the Phoenix campus
Outpatient Setting
This position is for the outpatient setting on the Scottsdale campus Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Primary role will be to see routine endocrinology outpatient follow up of type 1 and 2 diabetes (to include medical management and diabetes education), pre/post-transplant (kidney, liver, heart) osteoporosis, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, hypogonadism, adrenal insufficiency, primary hyperparathyroidism, transgender, bariatric, metabolic obesity and pituitary adenomas. Candidate will need to have a current working knowledge and ability to manage insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors as technology makes up a large part of the diabetes practice. Candidate will need to provide coverage in the inpatient setting at the hospital when one of the inpatient providers is on vacation or leave. Weekend call (Saturday and Sunday) will be rotated among APP providers every 6 to 8 weeks. Holiday call (New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) will be shared amongst all APP’s in rotation.

Primary role will be to provide medical management and coordination of care for the Bariatric program and metabolic research studies to include physical exams and muscle biopsies. In addition, the candidate will see routine endocrinology outpatient follow up of type 1 and 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, thyroid nodules, thyroid cancer, hyperthyroidism, hypogonadism, adrenal insufficiency, primary hyperparathyroidism, transgender, metabolic obesity, heart, liver, kidney and pancreas transplants and pituitary adenomas. Candidate will need to have a current working knowledge and ability to manage insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors as technology makes up a large part of the diabetes practice. Candidate will need to provide coverage in the inpatient setting at the hospital when one of the inpatient providers is on vacation or leave. Inpatient Setting
This position is on the Phoenix campus Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. Primary role will be to provide medical management and diabetes education for the hospitalized patient with hyperglycemia or diabetes admitted with acute illness. Endocrinology supports a busy transplant practice (liver, kidney, heart) and will see these patients before, during and after their transplant. The inpatient team is staffed by the Endocrinologist who will guide the care of the patient throughout the hospitalization. The APP will coordinate the care of the patient with the diabetes educator, social worker, care manager, pharmacist and referring provider team. Follow up will be arranged in 2 to 3 weeks to transition the patient to the primary care provider within the community locally, nationally or internationally. Candidate will need to have a current working knowledge of diabetes medications, insulin pumps and continuous glucose monitors. Candidate will need to cover weekend call (Saturday and Sunday) every 5 to 8 weeks. Holiday call (New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas) will be shared amongst all APP’s in rotation.
The candidate must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant demonstrates leadership through involvement on committees and team projects, education, and research and actively seeks to improve the practice through performance improvement initiatives. Active in professional organizations and participates in community activities. The American Nurses Association (ANA) Nursing: Scope and Standards of Advanced Practice Registered Nursing, the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, Rules of the Arizona State Board of Nursing are the basis for practice.

Qualifications
New Grads will not be considered at this time.
Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross and DEA registration required
