Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the Department of Critical Care will care for patients in a variety of ICU service lines including Cardiothoracic/Transplant ICU, Neuroscience ICU and Abdominal Transplant/Surgical ICU. The APPs rotate between all three of these service lines, the specific area the APP will be assigned to upon hiring will vary based on department needs and relevant experience.  

The Cardiothoracic ICU involves caring for patients requiring mechanical circulatory support including ECMO and Impella, pre and post heart and lung transplant and post cardiothoracic surgery.The Neuroscience ICU involves care for patients with ischemic stroke, hemorrhagic stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, neurology patients requiring ICU care and post neurosurgical procedures.  The abdominal transplant ICU involves care of patients pre and post liver and kidney transplant and any other surgical patient requiring ICU care post-operatively. 
The critical care NP or PA will perform critical care procedures per hospital credentialing policy.

You will have the opportunity to re-record your answer to each question – Mayo Clinic will only see the final recording. The complete interview will be reviewed by a Mayo Clinic staff member and you will be notified of next steps.



Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.  

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.  

Additional Qualifications: 
Prefer a minimum of 2 years ICU APP experience, but will consider other relevant experience (ICU Nursing, ICU rotations, etc.)

Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.

Schedule Details

The Critical Care NP/PA works 12 hour shifts, 13-14 shifts a month. Nocturnist position that REQUIRES 10 Night Shifts + 3-4 Day shifts per month. Rotating weekends and holidays required.

Required Rotating Weekends 2-4 weekend days a month.
