Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, is seeking a strong Nurse Practitioner (NP), Physician Assistant (PA), or prescribing Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to be a part of a multidisciplinary treatment team providing care to adults recovering from or trying to prevent a mental health crisis.  This highly professional clinician provides care primarily to adult patients in the hospital-based outpatient intensive Adult Transitions Program.  The NP/PA/CNS will work closely with the consultant psychologist, advanced practice providers, and other members of the treatment team to evaluate patients, develop and implement treatment plans, address crises and other clinical decision-making, and develop aftercare plans. The clinician hired into this role will also orient on the inpatient psychiatric units with opportunity for professional and clinical advancement to more autonomous roles in the Emergency Department and Hospital Consult/Liaison service for child/adolescent and adult populations as secondary roles. 

The NP/PA/CNS professional responsibilities may include participating in daily morning team rounds, admission interview and physical examination for those entering the Adult Transitions Program, managing ongoing medical and psychiatric issues, co-leading a medication education group, assessing new health concerns, and managing psychiatric and medical emergencies. Strong skills in collaborative care across disciplines, team-oriented focus, and understanding and respect for individual and cultural differences are needed.



Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP, or ANP. 

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice. 

CNS Provider: Master's degree with a major in nursing with a Clinical Nurse Specialist focus. Current RN license by applicable state requirements. Current APRN, CNS license by applicable state requirements.

This position requires DEA registration. BLS certification required.  New graduates are encouraged to apply. 

Psychiatric specialty certification is strongly preferred, but not required.
