Possess current certification as a Pediatric NP by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or National Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NBPNA/P). + Certification: Possess and maintain certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). Board Certification: Certified in the specialty required by the TO as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (for example, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American Nurses Association, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties. + Experience: Provide proof of professional development through continuing education within the last twenty-four (24) months. Possess a minimum of two (2) years of experience within the preceding three (3) years as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in a clinical setting. + Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse. Job Summary: + Obtain a focused history of present illness. + Obtain pertinent information about past medical & surgical problems, immunization status, allergies, developmental status & medications. + Obtain & evaluate pertinent vital signs. + Perform a thorough physical examination. + Order, perform (as appropriate) & interpret pertinent ancillary tests (e.g. laboratory tests, radiologic studies). + Formulate a clinical impression based on history, physical exam, and ancillary testing. + Initiate an appropriate treatment plan. + Determine a pertinent disposition and plan for follow-up care. + Perform minor surgical procedures. + Provide patient care in the Pediatric Asthma/Cystic Fibrosis/Allergy clinics. + Interview patients and families to determine need for medical intervention, perform a history and physical examination, generate an assessment and formulate a treatment plan, and communicate this plan to both the patient and the parents. + Assume responsibility for documentation of patient visits, identifying the proper care needed and appropriate follow up. + Ensure that necessary tests such as barium swallows, chest x-rays, sinus films, and computerized (or computed) tomography (CT) scans are appropriately scheduled. + Explain treatment procedures and diagnostic tests to patients and parents, and obtain informed consent if required. + Assist physicians in appropriate patient and family education and reviewing any new medications or changes in home treatment plans. + Involve ancillary services such as social work, physical therapy, and nutrition as deemed necessary. + Assist in teaching and technically oversee assigned house staff, medical and nursing students in the care of asthma, Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and other chronic pulmonary diseases of children. + Respond to urgent patient referrals by either communicating with referring physician or providing immediate self-directed intervention. + Return telephone calls in an efficient and timely fashion to patients and families. + Develop and enact an appropriate plan of treatment such as changing or adding medications to home therapy such as antibiotics, referring the patient to their local physician or emergency room (ER) for evaluation, offering consultation services, or scheduling them to be seen at NMCP. #IND123 START YOUR APPLICATION (https://apply.hrmdirect.com/resumedirect/ApplyOnline/Apply.aspx?req\_id=3463332&source=3463332-CJB-0)
