Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant Outpatient Heart Transplant

The Post Heart Transplant outpatient team is looking for an Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (APP) to join their team! Five 8-hour shifts M-F. No weekend requirement. Rotating on-call duties required. 

Position Description:

APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the  outpatient clinical setting. Provide outpatient coverage at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus Day shift. No weekend requirement Some call required

Position Description:

APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the outpatient clinical setting. Provide outpatient coverage at Inova’s Advanced Heart Failure Clinics at Fairfax Medical Campus with an opportunity for other practice sites

Position Qualifications:

Graduation for an accredited NP or PA program. Must be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.  Nurse Practitioner: Master’s Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP, AGACNP certification preferred based on population served.  Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master’s Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.  APP experience highly preferred; prior transplant and/cardiology experience highly preferred. Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fasted paced, high acuity work environment. Able to perform a thorough history and physical assessment.  VA License EPIC experience preferred 

Minimum Requirements: 

Certification - Basic Life Support prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start Licensure - Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner; If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License(depending on State of primary residence) AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/ supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances). Experience - No prior experience required; New graduate considered  Education - For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
