Nurse Practitioner Physician Assistant Psychiatry Evening

Overview

The Part Time with benefits Staff Admissions Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant coordinates and administers psychiatric and medical care to all patients and residents of Carrier Clinic, and through a contract between Carrier Clinic and East Mountain Hospital, to all inpatients of East Mountain Hospital. Conforms to performance improvement standards of patient care as established through Policies and Procedures. Provides professional representation of HMH Carrier to other health professionals, community agencies, and the public.

Part Time Monday-Friday 6p-10p.  Psychiatry experience prescribing meds for at least 1 year required.

Responsibilities

1. Provide psychiatric and medical treatment to walk-ins, patients, residents, staff and employees in the Facilities, as requested. 2. Follows all EMTALA regulations and the Facilities' requirements concerning EMTALA. 3. Completion of admission evaluation, assessment of strength and assets, mental health status and diagnosis. 4. Completion of treatment planning including medication orders, status, laboratory tests, diets, etc. 5. Completion of treatment plan in collaboration with the treatment team. 6. Completes all documentation/orders as required with timeliness and quality including delinquencies and incident reporting. 7. Reviews all laboratory results and documents timely. 8. Responds to Utilization Management and documents requests efficiently and timely. 9. Consultation/liaison with Nursing Supervisor, as needed. 10. Responds to nursing requests as needed. 11. Daily responsibility of their patient caseload. 12. Performs back up duties as assigned. 13. Adherence to performance improvement protocols including clinical pathways. 14. Coordinates with Carrier's Chief Medical Officer to oversee and improve clinical services provided at the Facilities. 15. Documentation of unusual incidents. 16. Progress note documentation for patients requiring special monitoring, e.g., suicide precautions, seclusion or restraints. 17. Returning all patient and family phone calls on a timely basis. 18. Referral and managed care contacts as needed. 19. Completes all court reports as needed. 20. Adheres to Collaboration Agreement. 21. Required to be available throughout the shift at all times and respond to calls/pages. 22. Adheres to timekeeping and payroll policies. 23. Participate in daily group meetings. 24. Required to be at key Medical Staff Meetings at the request of the Chief Medical Officer. 25. Acts as Facility representative to the general public presenting for services. 26. Interacts well with patients, visitors and Facility staff, responding promptly to inquiries with tact and sensitivity. 27. Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 28. Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. New Jersey State licensed APN. 2. Graduate of an approved APN Program. 3. Membership in professional societies. 4. Demonstrates a courteous, cooperative, pleasant and positive attitude, maintaining strict standards of confidentiality. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 6. Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. 7.  Psychiatry experience prescribing meds for at least 1 year required. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. NJ State Professional Registered Nurse License. 2. Advance Practice Nurse License. 3. Psychiatric - Mental Health Nursing or Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Certification. 4. AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed in the first 90 days of employment. 

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university. 2. Successful completion of an approved physician's assistant program, accredited by the AMA Council on Medical Education. 3. Minimum of 1 year of experience in psychiatry. 4. Minimum of 1 year in psychiatry prescribing medication. 5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 6. Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: 1. Training and experience with patients across the lifespan. 2. Training and experience with patients with substance abuse disorders. 3. Training and experience with the EPIC (Electronic Healthcare Record (EMR)) system. Licenses and Certifications Required: 1. Active, unrestricted medical license as a Physician Assistant in New Jersey. 2. Active, unrestricted Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) license. 3. Active, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license. Licenses and Certifications Preferred: 1. Certificate of Added Qualifications (CAQ) in Psychiatry.
