The Nurse Residency program helps new nurses successfully transition into clinical practice. We are dedicated to helping you successfully navigate your new role as a nurse and embark on your professional nursing journey. We partner with the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program™ to provide resources to help you gain confidence and increase competence during this 12-month program. We prioritize your needs through hands-on training and processing clinical experiences.
As a new nurse at Sheppard Pratt, you will receive mentoring from an experienced nurse, build relationships with peers, and participate in engaging learning experiences like monthly seminars and evidence-based projects in a supportive environment.
Participants in the Nurse Residency Program will increase their ability to:
Use effective decision-making skills Provide clinical nursing leadership when administering care Incorporate research-based evidence into practice Strengthen professional commitment to nursing Formulate an individualized professional development planEligibility: All applicants must be a graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN nursing program or an upcoming graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program by application deadline (rolling admissions). Applicants with less than one year RN experience are welcome to apply.
Program assignment: We encourage you to learn more about the patient populations we serve on our two inpatient hospital campuses; one located in Towson, Maryland, and our Baltimore/Washington hospital located in Elkridge, Md. You will gain unparalleled experience working with any one of our divisions, Child and Adolescent Services, Adult Services, or one of our Specialty Services, like Trauma Disorders, Geriatrics or Eating Disorders. By applying to this position, you are being considered for all inpatient units. Space is limited for some units. While we try to have each candidate interview where they have an interest, residency assignment will be based on candidate specialty preference, applicant pool and position availability.Shift/ Hours: 36-40 hours per week, Rotating shifts, Rotating holidays
