Job Summary

About the Clinical Practice Nurse Role and Neurosurgery This a full-time 40-hour day position, 8am-5pm. Outpatient setting. The Department of Neurosurgery at Mass General Hospital (MGH) is a nationally acclaimed program with over 27 neurosurgeons, 21 residents, and over 340 department staff and volunteer members. Our clinicians perform over 4,300 surgical procedures and over 20,000 clinical visits across its robust network. The right candidate would join a highly functional, fast-paced, multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing patient-focused, world-class neurosurgical care. The Clinical Practice Nurse supports and facilitates perioperative care for neurosurgical patients through tasks including: obtains patient histories, pre-operative clearances, coordinates tests and consultations, performs patient education, calls patients and families with clinical information and updates and assists the spine faculty and advanced practice providers with medication management. - Communicates the plan of care and other pertinent information to/from other patient care team members. - Coordinates involvement of the patient, family, and health team members in the patient care plan, including patient and family teaching. - Participate in the orientation of new permanent and temporary staff members. - Participates in daily activities conducive to the comfort and safety of patients / their families and practice staff. - Participates in practice and other committees for formulation of nursing, practice and hospital policies and procedures. - Maintains and updates clinical knowledge and skills based on current nursing education practice. - Contributes to relevant committees, professional meetings, and continuing educational and/or formal academic programs. - Participate in weekly case review conferences for documentation of care plans determined by physicians. Qualifications

Skills and Experience for a Clinical Practice Nurse - Minimum of 2-3 years relevant nursing experience strongly preferred Education/Degree for a Clinical Practice Nurse - Graduation from an accredited nursing program. - BSN degree preferred; New Grads BSN required Licensure, Certifications, or Registration for a Clinical Practice Nurse - Current licensure as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required About Mass General Hospital - Mass General Hospital is a world-renowned hospital that provides the highest quality care to patients.
