GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

Assists in the management of Perioperative or Orthopedic department. 

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Licensed in the State of Idaho as a Registered Nurse as defined by the Idaho State Board of Nursing.

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing strongly preferred.

Two years of nursing experience preferred.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire in all units, unless currently certified in ACLS and/or PALS as defined in the SAHS Certification Crosswalk.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Organization's Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

Demonstrates knowledge and skills to competently care for all assigned age groups (Child, Adolescent, Adult, Geriatric as applicable).

Assists in coordinating services to obtain the established goals for the unit.

Exercises assistive responsibility for departmental operations, quality of care, program evaluation and development and medical staff relations.

Participates in activities related to budgeting, planning, program development, facilities, materials management, safety, and quality. 

Participates in development of policies and procedures and ensures they are reviewed, revised and implemented in appropriate time frames. 

Plans, assigns, and monitors the work of staff. 

May participate in supervisory duties including hiring, salary review, competency assessment, staff development, counseling and terminating employees.

Maintains working relationships with other Medical Center departments and physicians. 

Responds to requests and complaints from patients and their families. 

Serves on Medical Center committees.

Attends meetings and represents Nurse Manager in his/her absence. 

Performs other such department and Medical Center tasks as may be assigned. 

Serves in a staff role based on the unit specific staffing plan and day to day requirements of the unit.
