Nursing Assistant Apprentice     


Position Summary

The Nursing Assistant Apprentice is a student currently enrolled in an approved CNA program who is employed in a non-certified capacity under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse and a certified nursing assistant. Assists nursing service personnel with a variety of patient care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.

 

Responsibilities

Assists with personal hygiene, takes vital signs and changes bed linens May serve and collect food trays, provide for between-meal nourishment, and clean, sterilize, store and prepare other supplies Completes duties based on the level of training in CNA program Works under immediate supervision Demonstrates and adheres to the Kootenai Health Code of Conduct and Ethics Performs other related duties as assigned Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field  Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function Competent to meet age specific needs of the unit assigned  

Requirements and Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED preferred Must be enrolled in a state approved CNA Program by Kootenai Health Orientation program Certification required within 90 days of date of hire BLS required  

Working Conditions

Must be able to maintain a standing and/or sitting position  Must be able to lift and move up to 35 lbs Typical equipment used in a clinical job Must be able to stoop, crouch or bend Must be able to assist in patient transfer
