Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician – Acute Care

UPMC Somerset is hiring Nursing Assistants (NA) and Patient Care Technicians (PCT) to support the Acute Care departments. UPMC Somerset’s Acute Care is made up of the Cardiology Medicine Unit & Surgical Acute Care unit. NAs & PCTs Provide direct patient care as directed by the RN including ADLs (bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning and repositioning patients. PLUS point of care testing, weights, vital signs, I&O, telemetry monitor application/reapplication, HAC & PSI prevention (TEDs/SCDs), and urine specimen collection.

These positions work rotating shifts including holidays and weekends. The Acute Care departments are truly a team! Employees are cross trained to function on both units and will float as needed. The shifts of these positions vary depending on employment status. All positions will work rotating weekends and holidays.

*Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title and salary from the PCT Career Ladder, based on their individual experience and education. Nursing Assistant Rates start at $16.74/hr. Patient Care Technician rates start at $16.94/hr.

**Candidates without previous PCT experience in a hospital-based setting will be required to attend a 7-day mandatory training course. This course is held during weekdays and daylight hours. All 7 days are mandatory and are scheduled in a structured classroom setting.
