Fairview Hospital's PACU is inclusive of both pre-anesthesia care and post-anesthesia care. The pre-anesthesia care area is designed to prepare patients for surgery, while the post-anesthesia care area provides post-operative care to general, orthopaedic, vascular, thoracic, and pediatric patients. The post-anesthesia care area also provides post-procedure monitoring for endoscopy and interventional radiology patients. This team has diligent and collaborative caregivers that take pride in their commitment to teamwork and meeting patients' needs in a timely manner. **A caregiver in this position works varying shifts from 6:00am - 4:30pm or 11:00am - 9:30pm.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Provide patient care under the direction of an RN. + Assist with data collection and treatments. + Perform administrative functions for the unit. + Observe and report changes in patients' condition. + Document activities in the patient care record. + Assist with transporting and discharging patients. + Transcribe and process all orders. + Prepare, maintain and process all charts, filed, records and mail. + Maintain inventory. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + A high school diploma or GED. + Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). All other applicants are required to obtain this within the new hire period. + Basic computer skills. Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Completion of a medical assisting course. + State Tested Nurse Assistant (STNA). + Previous healthcare and patient care experience in a hospital.
