Nursing Clinical Competency System Administrator
Job Description

Responsible for managing and optimizing the competency skills management application for the University of Maryland Medical System. Serve as the primary system administrator, ensuring the competency management system accurately reflects the skills and competencies required for clinical excellence. Work is performed under limited supervision. Direct report to the Director, Nursing Professional Development.

Oversee the competency skills management application, ensuring it is current and effectively supports the development of clinical competencies.Oversee the design, development, and implementation of system enhancements to better align with clinical workflows.Manage system integrations, including APIs and relational databases, to ensure seamless data flow between competency skills management application and other clinical and data management systems, such as learning management systems and human resources data.Work closely with clinical educators, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to identify competency gaps and develop targeted training programs or processes in collaboration with system and local stakeholders.Serve as a liaison to the UMMS competency management group.Continuously monitor and optimize the system’s performance to better serve the clinical staff’s needs.Implement and maintain processes to ensure the accuracy and integrity of clinical competency data within the system.Provide training and support to clinical educators and staff to ensure effective use of the system in their daily operations.Manage relationships with competency system vendor and other relevant vendors to ensure the smooth operation of the system.Stay abreast of industry trends, particularly those relevant to clinical competency management, and incorporate best practices into the system.In collaboration with the Director, Nursing Professional Development, manage and interpret large, complex clinical data sets, ensuring that the system supports evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.Perform other duties as assigned.Company Description

Qualifications

Education & Experience - Required

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland.Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, or related field.5+ years of nursing experience working in a hospital or clinical environment.Minimum 2 years’ experience managing skills and/or competency management applications in a healthcare setting, with a focus on clinical education and staff development.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Working knowledge and understanding of data architecture principles, integrations, APIs, and relational databases within healthcare systems.Advanced skill managing large and complex clinical data sets to support continuous improvement in clinical competency.Advanced project management skills with experience leading healthcare IT projects.Advanced analytical, critical thinking, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Advanced skill presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives and information clearly and concisely at all levels within the organization.Advanced skill developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all levels of leadership, staff and vendors.Keen sense of personal responsibility and accountability for delivering high quality work.Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment with limited supervision.Advanced skill in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Advanced verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.Additional Information
