The Department of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Nursing Clinical Placement Specialist position, under the title of Higher Education Assistant (HEa) beginning Fall 2025. Candidates must have a strong commitment to nursing clinical education at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chairperson of Nursing and will be responsible for all aspects of clinical coordinating and facilitating the selection of clinical facilities in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and community health agencies for clinical placements and experiential learning activities. This role includes the administrative and technical components of clinical site placement. This role also includes serving as a liaison between faculty and clinical agencies to ensure smooth clinical operations and compliance with accreditation standards. This role will be responsible for coordinating clinical placements for undergraduate and graduate nursing students, requiring a commitment of up to 35 hours per week and is a12-month staff position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: **Clinical Coordination:** o Develop and maintain relationships with clinical partners, ensuring all agency contracts and affiliate agreements are up-to-date. o Identify and secure new clinical sites and experiential learning opportunities that align with the program’s objectives. o Monitor clinical placement approvals, address issues, and troubleshoot problems as they arise. o Collaborate with clinical site administrators to ensure that the clinical environment is conducive to student learning and meets program objectives. o Ensure that clinical sites meet regulatory requirements and accreditation standards, including OSHA and HIPAA compliance. o Facilitate the orientation of students to clinical sites, including providing site specific guidelines and expectations. o Communicate with Chairperson, Program Directors clinical instructors, students and course leads regarding clinical details, changes, updates and general information **Student and Faculty Support:** o Communicate with students and faculty regarding required documents for clinical placements, ensuring compliance with NYS health requirements and clinical site prerequisites. o Ensure all necessary paperwork and documentation are completed accurately and on time. o Maintain, update and review student records in third-party systems such as CastleBranch and Typhon, ensuring compliance with clinical site requirements and regulatory standards. o Provide detailed instructions and deadlines for submission of required documents and clinical assignments. o Serve as a resource for students, assisting them with understanding clinical site expectations and addressing any clinical-related challenges. o Reschedule students when clinical sites change or require reorganization. o Work with the Assistant to the Chairperson to arrange clinical orientation for new faculty (permanent or adjunct) and provide ongoing support. **Administrative Duties:** o Complete written correspondence with clinical placement sites each semester. o Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and prepare reports for accreditation bodies as needed. o Attend Department of Nursing meetings and report regularly to the Chairperson, program Directors/Co-Directors and clinical lead lecturers. o Participate in the community advisory meetings, engaging with community and governmental partners to promote health equity. o Maintain accurate records of student clinical hours, site evaluations, and required documentation for regulatory and accreditation purposes. o Ensure that students and faculty have access to necessary clinical resources, such as electronic medical records systems or clinical skills labs. **Program Development and Evaluation:** o Evaluate clinical site performance and make data-driven recommendations to the Curriculum Committee and Chairperson. o Participate in the development of innovative strategies to enhance clinical education, including the integration of simulation and other technologies. **Professional Development:** o Engage in ongoing professional development activities related to clinical education and coordination. o Stay informed about trends and best practices in nursing education and clinical coordination. o Network with other clinical coordinators and professionals in the field to share best practices and resources. **QUALIFICATIONS** Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required. • Experience: Strong organizational and administrative skills, with a proven ability to collaborate with others for the benefit of the institution. • Skills: Excellent communication skills, with a strong commitment to student success and faculty support. • Technology Skills: Must be technologically savvy and able to navigate tools such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and any other relevant tools necessary for clinical coordination, data management, and communication. **Preferred Qualifications** : Record Management: Experience with maintaining and reviewing student records in third-party systems such as CastleBranch and Typhon, ensuring compliance with clinical site requirements and regulatory standards. **CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW** Provides support to a Campus or University Executive, organizing and supervising unit activities. - Creates appointment and meeting schedules, arranges meetings, and prepares for a variety of special events. Maintains an ongoing calendar of reports, deadlines, and key dates and incorporates these into a schedule. - Coordinates Executive communications, including those requiring a high degree of sensitivity. May respond to public inquiries as well as requests from within the Campus/University community. - Organizes, creates, and distributes key, complex management reports with a high degree of accuracy. - Organizes, manages, and tracks written and email correspondence, maintaining logs and records of follow-up activities. - Procures required internal and external resources and services and manages their utilization. - May supervise office staff, performing basic Human Resources functions such as recruiting and interviewing. - May perform related duties as assigned; may participate in special projects and efforts to improve unit effectiveness.
