Nursing Division Charge Capture Nurse

Join our dynamic healthcare team at Valleywise Health as a Nursing Division Charge Capture Nurse. Under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or Director of Nursing, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of our revenue cycle through meticulous audits and collaborative problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct Revenue Cycle Audits: Perform thorough audits of patient charts, verifying the accuracy of charges and identifying any missing or incorrect charges. Independent Chart Reviews: Analyze patient documentation against corresponding charges to ensure completeness and adherence to revenue cycle protocols. Data Analysis: Assess audit results and compile findings, providing actionable recommendations for corrective measures when discrepancies are found. Collaboration Across Departments: Work closely with the Business Office, IT, and Revenue Integrity teams to implement and monitor action plans and process improvements. Problem Resolution: Address and resolve problem accounts in line with Valleywise Health policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and accuracy in billing practices.

 Hourly Salary Range: $36.94 - $54.49

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or equivalency:

•  Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or related field.

 Experience: 

Must have a minimum of five(5) years of progressively responsible recent nursing experience in the healthcare field, including coding skills/experience that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience in Utilization Review/ Case-management and compliance auditing preferred.

 Specialized training:

None

Certification/licensure:

Must possess a current, valid AZ RN license; temporary AZ RN license; or valid compact RN licensure for current state of practice. Must also be in good standing with the issuing Board of Nursing. Prefer RHIT or CPC-H certification.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Requires a working knowledge of chart/bill audits and clinical documentation and coding requirements. Must be knowledgeable and proficient with Excel, Access, and Epic programs. Must have a working knowledge of chart/bill audits or ability to abstract medical information; and the revenue cycle process as it relates to patient billing. Must have strong working knowledge of medical terminology, patient care services, and medical record chart documentation (IP and OP) is required. Must have a thorough working knowledge of CMS compliance guidelines for hospital coding, billing and documentation. Requires strong analytical skills, as well as, strong oral and written communication skills. Must possess excellent problem solving skill. Must be able to work independently and effectively organize work own work schedule. Must be able to perform multiple concurrent assignments while under pressure and within established timeframe. Requires the ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
