Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities.
Essential Functions:
Under the supervision of physician or nurse, assists with performing patient reassessments and treatments.Performs basic diagnostic procedures and specimen collection. Monitors and communicates changes in patient condition. Documents patient care given.Maintains equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning, and troubleshooting. Maintains examination areas. Requests maintenance and biomed services in a timely manner.Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry, and patient registration.Assists with postmortem care including transport to the morgue.Assists staff in ensuring that patient's valuables and personal items are properly handled, secured, and accounted for.Documents allergies in RED in appropriate areas.Minimum EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent required.Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Basic Life Support (BLS) required.Handle with care required within 3 months of hire.Licenses: Current NC Certified Nursing Assistant certificationComputer skills, previous EMR experience preferred.Medical Technology preferred.Minimum Work Experience1 year preferred.Must be enrolled in RN Program.Min 24 hours per month but can work as much as needed.Willing to float throughout the hospital.
