Overview The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Specialist influences professional role competence and professional growth of learners in a variety of settings. The NPD Specialist provides educational expertise in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing orientation, continuing education and inservice education programs. Accountable for planning, implementation, evaluation, and revision of needs-based educational systems that support clinical practice and regulatory requirements. The NPD Specialist contributes to the profession's body of knowledge through conducting IRB-approved nursing research and translating the research into current nursing practice. The NPD Specialist provides education support to achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of excellence in autonomous and accountable nursing practice committed to patient advocacy and innovative patient care in a climate of trust and collaboration. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Master's degree in nursing (MSN) required. Current staff without MSN must obtain degree as contracted by the VP/AVP. National nursing board certification in specialty area required. Current staff without national nursing board certification in specialty area must obtain certification as contracted by the VP/AVP. Three years recent documented clinical experience required. BLS. ACLS or PALS Instructor; teaching experience, experience with computers and Microsoft applications such as WORD and PowerPoint preferred. Must demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills and good technical writing skills. Must require minimum supervision and exercise sound judgment. Must be able to work independently and/or within a team-oriented environment using appropriate CQI tools. Must be able to work with a diverse group of individuals in an environment where access to and control of confidential information is significant. Must be able to stand for extended periods while teaching. Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Employees in this position: Will not operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current Florida RN license; BLS and ACLS certification with willingness to become BLS and/or ACLS Instructor
