Job Summary: The Nursing Projects Manager assists the Senior Vice President-Patient Care Services in managing special projects from inception to completion. Functions in a matrix reporting structure and builds relationships across Loma Linda University Health (LLUH) system hospitals to effectively lead projects impacting multiple entities and customers. Keeps pace with a progressive and proactive management team and utilizes independent judgment and critical thinking skills to manage assigned projects that support the business, clinical, LLUH and nursing strategic goals. Collaborates with other key departments such as Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A), Information Services (IS), Patient Safety and Reliability (PSR), Research, Hospital Quality Departments and Administration to ensure project initiatives are harmonious with other organizational initiatives and current clinical practices. Maintains working knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoP) for Hospitals, California Department of Public Health (CDPH), The Joint Commission (TJC) and other pertinent regulatory requirements to ensure projects are in compliance with regulations. Serves as an effective change agent and provides guidance and support to departments as needed. Utilizes exemplary interpersonal skills and cooperates harmoniously with others at all levels. Contributes to a work environment of caring and cooperation among a culturally diverse workforce and patient population. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required, in progress acceptable. Master's Degree in Nursing or healthcare related field preferred. Minimum three years acute hospital experience required. Minimum one year project management experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of state and federal healthcare regulations and accreditation, quality, patient safety, performance improvement methodologies, project management, data management and statistical analysis required. Must have highly developed oral and written communication skills in English and make public presentations. Demonstrates a high degree of social skills in obtaining cooperation and support from a broad range of people with various levels of responsibility and ability to work effectively with senior leadership, clinical and non-clinical department heads and administration. Must demonstrate advanced computer skills and proficiency in Windows environment, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Internet Explorer, Outlook, electronic medical record, spreadsheets and graphics. Must be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach and collaborate; accept direction; think critically; use sound judgment based on factual information; set goals and work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision; perform basic math and statistical functions; demonstrate expert time management and prioritize fluctuating workload to meet position demands; utilize problem-solving methodologies in a proactive and creative manner; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to position. Licensures and Certifications: Active California Registered Nurse (RN) licensure required.
