Nursing Station Technician Birthplace
Overview Are you looking to make an impact on the physical, emotional and cultural needs of patients and their families? Join our team as a Nursing Station Technician in the Birthplace at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital! We support not only women in our culturally diverse community, but also support women across the state whom may need additional attention due to a high risk pregnancy or fetal diagnosis. The position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the day shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. Responsibilities Job Description This role will be working in the Labor and Delivery and Post Partum units. It is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, collaboration and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include: Minimal direct patient care Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms and assembling patient charts Setting up and maintaining patient rooms Ordering and stocking of supplies Cleaning and setting up operating rooms Cleaning of operating room and delivery room instruments Qualifications Required License/Certification/Registration Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants are required to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program AND ONE or more of the following: Successful completion of Fairview’s OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program. OR Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician) OR Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program OR Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.
