JOB SUMMARY:
The Nursing Supervisor represents hospital Administration and, as such, serves as the delegated agent of the hospital administrative team and is invested with the authority of the same on the assigned shift. Responsible for coordinating and evaluating management and clinical practice activities throughout the Medical Center during the off-shifts including weekends and holidays.

Required:

BA/BS DegreeA minimum of three (3) years of nursing experiencePrior supervisory or management experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skillsOrganizational ability, nurse management and leadership skillsDemonstrated clinical expertise in area standardsSuccessful completion of all Orientation Programs

Preferred:

Critical experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

Current Registered Nurse License in the state of New JerseyBasic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart AssociationACLS from the American Heart Association required

Scheduling Requirements:

Night shift12.5 hour shifts 7pm 7am3 days per weekSome holiday and weekends required

Essential Functions:
The Nursing Supervisor maintains clinical/management skills; keeps abreast of current healthcare trends through continuous education and participation in meetings both internally and externally. Serves as a resource for staff and colleagues. Ensures compliance with Medical Center policies and that state, federal and regulatory requirements are adhered to.

Performs nursing rounds to assess the physical environment and delivery of quality patient care in the units under his/her jurisdiction. Assists in maintaining an environment conducive to productive, open communication with staff; remains visible to staff, engages staff in unit communication sessions, provides a resource for staff during times of stress. Respond effectively to emergent events; communicate with designated senior management as the situation dictates. Utilizes CQI approach to problem identification and resolution; communicates findings to appropriate department head and participates in inter/intra-departmental corrective action process. Reports promptly all unusual and / or high-risk events to appropriate parties.
