Job Summary
This position is responsible for system planning for network electric distribution systems at APC and GPC. This position will run studies for our network system to evaluate load growth, potential overloading, fault currents, system reliability data and resolutions. This position will support operations during planned/unplanned maintenance, capacity and reliability upgrades and the assessment of emerging issues.
Job Responsibilities
Utilize applications such as ADMS, IDMS Repository, SCADA tools, DistView, DistGIS, and others to produce CYME feeder models for further study at APC/GPC Develop budget and forecast items for the capital budget based on results of the CYME feeder studies. Calculating system fault currents Provide support at APC/GPC in using CYMDist and in modeling large load additions to the network system. Responsible for area planning including proposing new infrastructure and upgrades to existing infrastructureJob Experience and Education
Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent is required Commitment to Safety Excellence Three or more years of Distribution engineering experience is required Network or System Planning experience is preferred Previous experience in presenting large and complex projects before DPRT and T&D is highly desired SERP/Outage restoration is preferred Other valuable experience includes knowledge of transmission and substation operations, knowledge of Section “O”, system design experience, serving on statewide committees, knowledge of sales and economic development, experience with design standards and experience resolving customer issue with partner organizations.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Valid Driver's License. Successful candidate must be available to support outages or other abnormal conditions outside of their normal work schedule. Overnight travel is sometimes required. Could be in the field at least 10% of the time with employees Use email, mobile device, company radios, etc. to maintain good communication with supervision. Ensure compliance with Southern Company Electronic Communication Policy. Must live in/near or be willing to relocate within reasonable distance to Atlanta or Birmingham. Relocation assistance available if needed.This position has been identified as a role that will require the use of a Georgia Power fleet vehicle. The following will be required if you are selected for this position:
•Must have at least one year of verifiable driving experience (Must hold a valid driver’s license for the class vehicle to be operated. Driving permits are not typically considered a valid driver’s license).
•Must have no revocation of driving privileges within the 36 months prior to application, no convictions of major traffic violations (DUI, hit and run, reckless driving, etc.) within the 12 months prior to application, or any pending charges for a major traffic violation at the time of application.
