Nutrition, Health and Wellness Program Manager - Watertown, NY
This position will serve as the Nutrition, Health and Wellness Program Manager for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County and will work under the direction and supervision of the Youth and Family Association Issue Leader. This position will provide direction, organization, coordination, and management of all aspects of the Nutrition, Health and Wellness Programs, to include, but not be limited to: SNAP-Ed, including policy, systems, and environmental change program initiatives, Change Club through NIH, the NC Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program, Healthy Alliance – 1115 waiver program, and other Nutrition, Health and Wellness Educational Programs administered by Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Jefferson County (i.e. general nutrition, local food and/or food insecurity). This position will provide management and oversight of all grants and contracts (i.e. NIH, Gus NIP, SNAP-ED, Healthy Alliance (1115 waiver program), will provide management and coordination of Nutrition, Health and Wellness marketing initiatives for assigned Nutrition, Health and Wellness Programs, and will be responsible for the implementation of innovative Nutrition, Health and Wellness programming, both on-site and off-site in accordance with the Nutrition Program Area’s Plan of Work. This position will provide coordination and management for all referrals and outreach initiatives for the Nutrition area. This position will directly supervise Association Subject Educator I positions (4.0), additional nutrition staff as needed, provide oversight to Association volunteers and interns in the Nutrition Program Area, and mentoring and observations for all assigned Program staff.

POSITION DETAILS:

This position is a full-time exempt position - 100% FTE. The annual salary for this position is $60,410.00. This position, based on eligibility, offers a comprehensive benefit package, to include: health and dental insurance, retirement, vacation, sick and personal leave.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree.Experience relevant to the role of the position.Valid New York State Driver’s License and the ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications:

Licensed Registered Dietician with experience in community based programming and/or Medicaid funded programs.Familiarity of subject matter appropriate to area of programming (Nutrition, Health, and Wellness).Demonstrated initiative, reliability and dependability.Demonstrated ability to plan, teach and evaluate informal educational programs through a variety of delivery methods to reach individuals and groups; adults and youth.Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively through oral, written and visual means.Demonstrated ability to utilize computer technologies for education and communication purposes.Demonstrated ability to participate in professional team efforts with volunteers and staff.Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead programming.Demonstrated ability to seek out and coordinate community partnerships, program initiatives, staff professional development, and funding to further the strategic goals and objectives of the Association and the Nutrition Program.Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.Demonstrated ability to manage grant funded projects/contracts/deliverables.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Program Responsibilities:

Development - 5%

Apply Nutrition, Health and Wellness subject matter knowledge to provide input in the development of educational strategies for assigned programs to include:  SNAP-Ed including policy, systems, and environmental change program initiatives, Change Club, NC FVRx, SRAE, 1115 waiver program, and other Nutrition, Health and Wellness Educational Programs.Influence the creation of program materials to address the needs of both adult and youth participants in the above assigned Nutrition, Health and Wellness programs.Participate in community committees, coalitions, or other working groups to better understand community needs and the role the Nutrition, Health and Wellness Program Area and/or the Association might serve.

Delivery - 25%

Apply subject matter knowledge to ensure/create innovative lesson delivery in the following assigned Nutrition and Health programs: SNAP-Ed including policy, systems, and environmental change program initiatives, Change Club, NC FVRx, SRAE, 1115 waiver program and other Nutrition, Health and Wellness Educational Programs.Coordinate efforts with the Local Foods Team to build capacity for local food and address the needs of both producers and consumers.Teach existing Nutrition programs as designed if necessary and to support smooth program operations.Effectively utilize all forms of mass media, including social media, for the innovative delivery of Nutrition, Health and Wellness educational programs.Work to foster acceptance of the Nutrition Program, methods, and policies while addressing community and individual needs and considering diverse audiences.Serve as a team member and cooperate with the entire Association and Nutrition, Health and Wellness Program staff to achieve Association program delivery goals.

Evaluation- 5%

Implement program evaluation as designed.Interact with program educators to interpret evaluation data, to include evaluating effectiveness of classes and instructors within program areas for all programs offered.Analyze program data, and based on that analysis, make improvements in programming and delivery.Based on program parameters, interpret evaluation data to constituents as appropriate.

Administrative Responsibilities:

Direction - 25%

Coordinate efforts to achieve Nutrition, Health and Wellness program goals. Plan programming to address food insecurity, diet-related chronic disease, behaviors and knowledge of nutrition and physical activity, and life skills to build healthy habits.Utilize innovative policy, systems, and environmental change strategies that further opportunities to create healthier communities aligned with the Nutrition program Area’s plan of work. Oversee all aspects of Nutrition program budgets, including anticipating and monitoring expenses with discretion based on established financial guidelines and/or procedures.Plan fund development goals and objectives and be an active participant on the grant writing team as necessary for the development of grant applications to secure funding for ongoing/expanded programming efforts. Take the lead on grant writing when necessary to do so.With discretion, plan effective strategic marketing and mass media efforts in the promotion of assigned Nutrition, Health and Wellness Programs, public affairs, events and functions.Participate in leadership team activities including strategic planning, staffing and program development, professional development and values and workplace culture efforts.Effectively work towards achievement of CCE Strategic Plan, goals and deliverables.

Management - 30%

Provide leadership to all Nutrition program area staff and ensure all educational programs and program activities uphold the Association’s Plan of Work.Provide overall grant management for the SNAP-Ed, NIH, Gus NIP, 1115 waiver program and other assigned grants and/or contracts.Provide management of Nutrition marketing initiatives.Solve problems and resolve conflicts that arise in the Nutrition program area utilizing appropriate policies and procedures, as needed.Allocate resources to accomplish Association program objectives within the Nutrition program area.Monitor Nutrition program income/expenses to ensure spending is within the program budget constraints.Manage conformance to the Volunteer Involvement Policy (VIP), including the recruitment, involvement, and management of volunteers in the Nutrition Program.Provide management (including recruitment and selection) and supervision (including guidance, performance feedback and annual performance reviews) to staff in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocol, and provide regular staffing updates to the Executive Director as required.Provide mentoring and observations for all assigned staff. Monitor and schedule staff time to ensure program need is met.

Coordination/Operation - 5%

Obtain evaluation data and program needs assessments from program educators based on existing evaluation framework and guidelines.Provide complex administrative support to prepare materials for report submission to meet funding requirements (monthly, quarterly and yearly).Coordinate program referrals and ongoing outreach efforts in accordance with established Plan of Work.Coordinate effective marketing strategies in the promotion of programming efforts to include, but not limited to: print media, news media, social media, and multi-media efforts.Effectively maintain existing professional relationships with other agencies, organizations and businesses that promote effective communication and facilitate continued programming efforts.Organize and coordinate activities and related assigned programs.Provide administrative support for fund development and grant writing activities as identified.This position may require the transport of program participants and/or program materials and resources in performing position responsibilities.

Professional Improvement and Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

In cooperation with Supervisor, and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes in programming and association priorities.Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension including but not limited to attendance at staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff, general marketing of Extension programs and other duties as assigned.
