Job Description
The Nutrition Education Associate, EFNEP, Fort Bend County, under general supervision, plans and conducts nutrition education program for targeted audiences. Organizes and works closely with local agencies serving adults, schools, and other organizations in low income communities and works with extension colleagues for referrals to the program.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
+ Coordinates with co-workers, 4-H and FCS in implementing nutrition education programs. Maintains confidentiality of all program reports and records and keeps them in a secure location. Collects required pre/post surveys from youth for data entry to the Web NEERS Evaluation and Reporting System.
+ Supports the overall missions of the College of Agriculture and Human Sciences and its Strategic Plan by providing overall leadership to the 1890 Family & Consumer Sciences. Responsible for implementing and evaluating effective county educational in-depth and outreach programs in the areas of childhood obesity and food safety. Uses approved Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) curricula to teach youth participants knowledge and behaviors related to nutrition, food safety, food resource management, and physical activity. Promotes leadership and personal development among program participants.
+ Participates in all training activities designed for the Expanded Food Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP). Maintains a positive atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to get along with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
+ Contacts appropriate individual and community partners to schedule nutrition education classes for limited resource adults. Uses scheduled time to complete daily records of group classes, time sheets, mileage, and other required reports within the job responsibility. Plans graduation/recognition events for participants and volunteers. Delivers workshops and food demonstrations via online platforms. Provides workshops, trainings and food demonstrations through pre-recording programing.
+ Performs other duties as deemed necessary.
Required Education and Experience:
+ High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Six months of related experience with youth and adult audiences conducting nutrition, food safety, health education, or other outreach education programs.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Other Requirements:
+ Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends.
