Job Description:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Implementation of MAM Prevention and Treatment Activities are performed in accordance with the work plan and proposal

Support the identification and registration of beneficiaries, focusing on children under five and pregnant and breastfeeding women and girls (PBW/Gs).Facilitate community-level screening for acute malnutrition using MUAC (Mid-Upper Arm Circumference) and weight-for-height measurements.Ensure proper referral of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases to therapeutic feeding programs.Distribute specialized nutritious food (e.g., RUSF) and monitor its utilization by beneficiaries.Implement social behaviour change communication (SBCC) sessions focused on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices and healthy nutrition.Monitor the storage of commodities in the warehouse to ensure that they are being kept at the appropriate standard.Ensure there is no overlap between beneficiaries from each initiativeMonitor the Food distribution activities regularly to ensure the activities are in accordance with work plan and proposal and to ensure to be in line with standard.

Ensure the timely support of the capacity building for staffs and volunteers for the program effectiveness.

Train community health volunteers in nutrition screening, data collection, and counselling techniques.Conduct on-the-job coaching for frontline staffs and ensure adherence to project protocols.Support local healthcare providers in integrating MAM prevention and treatment activities into routine health services.

Conduct regular monitoring and support the management with reporting problems and suggesting solutions

Regularly monitor project activities to ensure compliance with established protocols and standards.Visit vulnerable group beneficiaries to ensure they have received the correct entitled amount of food/cash.Collect and analyze data on screening coverage, treatment outcomes, and SBCC effectiveness.Prepare reports summarizing project progress, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.Support the setup of community feedback mechanisms to improve program responsiveness.Submit weekly and monthly reports to the Area Programme Manager and Project Coordinator in a timely and accurate fashion.

Maintains good networking with the staff, community, partner organizations and government authorities through the effective Coordination, Collaboration and Community Engagement

Collaborate with other sectors (e.g., WASH, Health) to ensure an integrated approach to malnutrition prevention.Coordinate with government health departments and other partners to ensure alignment with national nutrition policies.Represent the organization at local coordination meetings and working groups as required.Engage community leaders and stakeholders to promote awareness of MAM prevention and treatment services.Organize and participate in community meetings to share program updates and gather feedback.Work with communities to identify barriers to accessing nutrition services and develop strategies to address them.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

At least 2–3 years of experience in nutrition programming, preferably in MAM/SAM prevention and treatment.Experience working with international NGOs or community-based projects is highly desirable.Familiarity with nutrition protocols and guidelines, including SPHERE standards and IYCF principles.Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, fax and e-mailStrong knowledge of community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM).Willingness to travel frequently to field sites and remote areas.Fluency in local language and English is preferred.Excellent communication, training, and interpersonal skills.Excellent interpersonal skillsAbility to work as a teamResponds promptly in a professional mannerStrong commitment to humanitarian principles and community engagement.Excellent knowledge of local context and organizational cultureKnowledge of local cultural and social dynamics is an advantage.
