Nutrition/Support Services Manager

Job Summary

Plans, organizes and directs the operations of Support Services departments at multiple locations, including ambulatory locations in our service area. Support Services may include two or more of the following departments: Environmental Services, Nutrition Services, patient transport, linen, guest services, gift shops or hospitality. This position ensures the delivery of high-quality services to Corewell Health patients, visitors and employees. Key responsibilities include regulatory compliance, fiscal management, resource allocation, standards of care, performance improvement and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders at locations of oversight. This role will frequently collaborate with other departments to ensure the success of the organization and Support Services.

Essential Functions

Manages those who schedule, assign and distribute work among department employees. Ensures department work assignments are completed in a manner that is accurate and timely.Establishes and communicates appropriate quality standards for designated services and programs. Implements procedures for measuring quality standards.Nutrition Services: Provides for the delivery of nutritious and appetizing meals to patients, retail area and catering patrons, and employees by coordinating the preparation of menus; the purchasing, storage, receiving and inventory of all food and supplies; determining correct methods of preparation to provide nutritional meals; coordinating meal schedules; and providing meal service in accordance with State and Federal guidelines, the Joint Commission, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Public Health Department.Designs, implements and maintains policies and procedures for Support Services which reflect compliance with corporate, best practice and regulatory guidelines.Environmental Services: Inspects and evaluates physical condition of hospital. Recommends painting, repairs, furnishing, relocation of equipment. Arranges for supply of housekeeping materials, equipment and related items necessary to permit the proper performance of housekeeping services.Facilitates the training and continuing education of employees. Provides direction and support to subordinate employees to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Selects, trains, develops, and evaluates subordinates and initiates personnel actions in accordance with departmental policies and organization philosophy.Develops, implements, and maintains departmental annual operating budgets, ensuring that operations are managed within established guidelines.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent (or equivalent education and experience) in Healthcare Management, Business or related field5 years of relevant experience leading an environmental service and/or nutrition services team in the health care industrySupervisory experienceSkills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through related experienceCRT-Dietary Manager, Certified (CDM) - CBDM Certifying Board for Dietary Managers RNCs 1 1/2 Yrs required
