Job Description

The NVH Engineer for Electrical Power Steering is providing system measurements, testing and analysis on the test bench and in-vehicle and acting as an interface to the customer and development teams. The role is a practical testing and validation position. Responsibilities include:

Provides vehicle-level technical OEM support for current and future electric power steering system projects in regards to NVHLeads and participates in steering system NVH testing activities for current and future OEM electric power steering programs Leads in NVH problem solving activities within customer and development teamsIdentifies software, hardware, and system level issues in regards to NVH and provides an interface between the development and OEM teams to resolve the issuesCompletes test bench EPS system NVH measurements and interprets and communicates results to the development and OEM teamsInstalls measurement and testing equipment in vehicles, completes required vehicle measurements, interprets the results, and provides appropriate feedback to the development and OEM teamsProvides feedback on status of testing, and vehicle evaluations through formal and informal reports internally and to the customerMaintains measurement equipment and NVH software packages Assumes responsibility for customer projects and insures progress independently Work with development team to establish and maintain strategic contacts at OEMMust be capable of learning other software packages (Ex: SAP, Test Software, Jira & Doors).Must have the ability to work independently, with little or no guidanceIndependently creates test plans and as issues arise be able to use structured problem-solving skillsProvides guidance and mentorship to other NVH team members10% domestic travel

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

Master's degree in Engineering (with preference in Acoustics, Aerospace, Mechanical, System or Electrical Engineering).5+ years of experience in automotive vehicle development or related field (such as aerospace and building acoustics).Academic or industry hands on NVH testing and instrumentation experience required.5+ years of experience with commercial software for noise and vibration analysis (HEAD acoustics software and MATLAB beneficial).Possesses a Valid Driver's LicenseMust have basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook softwareStructure-Born Noise experienceUnderstand of Rotating Machinery (E.G. electrical motors)Hands-on with testing equipment and SensorsNVH Test Bench ExperienceStrong critical thinking skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team environmentCustomer interface experienceStrong Communication Skills

Subjective Evaluation Skills in-VehicleGeneral Steering System knowledge
