Job Description
About The SiteNelson Energy Center is a 980 MW combined cycle and peaking power generation facility. The combined cycle units consist of two 1x1 units with G.E. 7F.03+ gas turbines and G.E. A-10 steam turbines. The site also has two dual-fuel G.E. 7F.03 gas turbine peaking units. The site operates and maintains a water treatment facility which processes river water for use as cooling water, firewater, and boiler water make-up. The facility is located in Rock Falls, IL. (about 100 miles west of Chicago).
Position Overview
The O&M Technician provides the organization with a knowledgeable, multi-skilled, troubleshooting expert who operates and maintains a 980 MW combined cycle power station with 600 MW's of combined cycle and 380 MW's of dual fuel peaking capacity. This position requires highly flexible individuals that work various shift schedules in a Team environment performing various team support functions.
Responsibilities
The O&M Technician will be a team player performing operations, maintenance, and technical support to achieve safe, cost-effective operation and maintenance of the Nelson Energy Center.Operate the facility during start-up, shutdown, normal, and emergency conditions in accordance with operating procedures and instructions to maintain a safe and efficient operation.Maintain and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and or control systems in a power generation facility.Perform/direct housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe work environment and professional appearanceWork within and ensure strict adherence to all safety and environmental procedures.The O&M Technician will work various shifts and be subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime.Requirements
Good verbal and written communication skills.Passing score on a Mechanical Technical Aptitude Test.Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.1 - 4 years of directly related operations, mechanical, electrical or instrumentation and controls experience (I&C) experience in a power generation facility or industrial setting.Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.Preferred Requirements
Education in mechanical maintenance, electrical maintenance, or instrument and control.GE 7FA experience a plus but not required.Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office software.Individuals receiving conditional offers of employment will be subject to drug testing and must receive a negative result to begin working for the company.
